Morning folks,

This is my last post for the WHISKYhost blog. After much deliberation I've decided to leave the company and branch out on my own. I have moved all my archived material to my new domain: Guid Scotch Drink and hope that you will follow me there for more whisky-related fun and games. I sincerely thank you for all the support you've given me during my time blogging for WHISKYhost and hope that you will continue to support me as I embark upon this latest chapter in my whisky life. We were just beginning to establish a tremendous commenter community on this blog and I hope that we can continue to build it at my new home.

Today I got the opportunity to "lecture" about whisky at Washington State University. What fun!

I had a classroom full of students (all over 21 of course) taking a sensory class in food sciences who were excited to learn more about scotch whisky! With powerpoint, glasses and a couple of whiskies in hand, I discussed the differences between bourbon, scotch, and rye and then how to make the lovely spirit of scotch. I talked about how best to taste it and the five regions. Amateur stuff, but all-in-all a great primer for the young scotch enthusiast.

Where do you find good scotch in Seattle?

So I'm in Seattle visiting friends and I'm wondering where to go to get a good single malt scotch. Comment below and let me know. I'll be in Portland on Monday, so make some suggestions for good bars there as well. Let me know if you want me to list other cities in the forums and we'll find out the best places to drink.
